About Cathy – Bio

Creating is an essential part of my life and painting is the vehicle to my creativity.  Choosing to work in a contemporary style, I like to present a diverse collection of both interpretive realism and abstract styles in acrylic, watercolour and mixed media.

Taking inspiration from the lakeside views my landscapes often echo the “shoreline seasons.” My abstract work is created with an intuitive process reflecting the immediacy of a moment.  The process “from soul to hand” is my attempt to manipulate those moments on paper or canvas in shapes and colours to create a visual impact that I hope the viewer enjoys.

As a professional artist, I value the opportunity to continue to learn different techniques from instructors, at home and abroad; to be represented by a gallery; to attain juried acceptance in shows; to teach others and to share my passion for art and painting with others.  These encounters, events, and artistic endeavours, I feel, are integral to continue to grow as an individual and artist.
