Thoughts On Art
Creativity is taking feelings intentions and energy and turning them into an image. As an artist I try to say something to the viewer via the piece portraying my intention whether the picture represents a statement or something as simple as a feeling. Taking an idea and processing it through my imagination to the final piece is the essence of creating for me.
I feel most successful when I feel I've pushed the limits and have expanded my boundaries, whether it be with color, texture, a subject... Its created yet another personal and original message of my own. In turn, it becomes the message and energy which the viewer will interpret and thereby, form their own relationship with the piece.
I can present the painting "from soul to hand" but really it is up to the viewer to cast the final acceptances of the piece - that is the most exciting thing of all - when the viewer loves what they're looking at and has interpreted it for themselves. I believe a piece of art is successful when it evokes an emotional response. Finally, when a piece is finished, I thoroughly enjoy a feeling of optimism, in preparation for my next creation.
